Random splashscreen

Random splashscreen

Is it possible to make a small mod wich shows you a random splashscreen everytime you launch Freelancer?
And would that be popular?

I think it would be fun because you can throw in any kind of pic you want. The current splash is just...boring, but I don't want to manually change the pic all the time.

Edit: Damn spelling.

It's the sand in the clock wich stops the time... or was it... D'oh, I need to study harder on this time control thing.

I don't know if that's possible, you could probably change the current splash screen using reshack but making it use random ones would be a little tricky.

Easiest way is placing a new BMP with the same name in the right folder (...\freelancer\exe\ I think), this changes the splash screen. Or edit the Freelancer.ini to make fl show a different pic.

Could a simple program be made wich changes the splashscreen right before FL launches?
Like randomizer changes splash image and launches FL.

I know randomizers can be made, so I think this should be possible. Anyone willing to try this?

Btw, yes I saw your splashy Card, very nice. A lot better then before.

Edit: Damn spelling.

SOunds nice - but when you think that splash screens are just shown for a couple of seconds, but ONE type (4 files, 2x BMP and 2xTGA types for 800x600 and 1280x960 (one of each obviously) ) means that you are getting on for about 11 meg or so JUST for aesthetics. Now that is okay for some mods - and especially if they are good. now make it randomiser - where it changes just between FOUR files - and you are looking at nearly 50meg of zipped files!!! Seems like a massive thing to do so little! lol

Lots of hard work and very little to show for it ... sounds like how Nickless posts on TLR.

changig the BMP's has no effect, you have to change the Targas, Paint cant read\save True Vision Targa's(TGA) so you need something like Adobe Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro to save and open them.

Damn you sS (<-- I didn't even put to much effort into this, so don't get started)

Mind you, all my nickname-changes require some work. and then all the new sigs to go with it and to bare with the fame of being a daft namechanger, signing autographs, you know the usuall. That's a crap load of work.

Anyway, I never knew it would be that huge, lol. tnx for the replies though.
