MP character file decompressor?

I'm wondering if there's a simple command line utility for decoding MP character files.

FreeLancer INI uncompressor (command line, v1.1)
File size : 19,99 Kb
Category: Utility
Date: 3/11/2003 6:51:29 PM
Description: This small command line program uncompresses the INI files used by FreeLancer, allowing it's modifications (FreeLancer can use uncompressed versions of these files)

Version 1.1 has a small fix, allowing the uncompressor to handle correctly INI entries with 0 values (source code on the INI document has been updated as well)

Created by Mario "HCl" Brito

You can also use Freelancer SDK v1.3 made by Louva-Deus
Freelancer SDK (software developement kit) is set of decompressed (text) ini files (over 1200) from the original game of Freelancer, you can use this package to make your mod making life easier since it contains fixes for all the major errors in the original source. It also fixes the errors caused from decompression using bini.

No, I've used this before but I need something that recognizes .fl files, not .ini ones. I'd like to keep it command line so nothing gets installed on my comp. I know what files I want to decode, but I need a .fl decompressor of some kind.

You should be able to open the .fl file with wordpad...At least if your talking about the one in the Freelancer.EXE folder... Saved game fl files are a different ballgame.

.fl files(savefiles) are encoded. I know flcodec is used in JoeBoomz programs that deal with those files but I don't know of any specific programs that will do it. Would be nice to be able to decode and encode savefiles though, would make modifying the default settings in singleplayer easier.

You want a GUI for flcodec? I made a really simple one (Mainly for my own use) but you can grab it here http://www.thejkwhosaysni.vze.com/sge.html I don't know if that's what you're looking for though...

Just what the doctor ordered I'm sure a full gui would be rather nifty with character editor, ship editor, stat editor, location editor, map editor, and things like that.

Seems the link TheJkWhoSaysNi posted no longer works. This GUI sounds like it will solve a bunch of my problems.. anyone know if that utility is still available? Thanks for any feedback.
