Nomad Encounters??

Alright I am having some issues creating nomad encounters.

I can setup every other type of encounter and they seem to work just fun, but when I setup a zone pop area and set the encouter to area_assault and the faction nomads. nothing happens, they never show up.

what am I doing wrong???

Without actually seeing your file it's hard to tell what you are doing. Here is an example of what nomad encounters look like. In this example around the nomad jumphole in Omicron Gamma we have 4 groups of nomads that will show up.

I take it you have an EncounterParameters entry in the system.

Alright I hate to sound more like a newb then I already am, but I used FLE. and I dont have any encounter files within my mod.
But all my zone pops for defends and attacks from hackers and rogues and whoever else, appear to work. its only the nomad encounters that dont want to work.

What file within my Mod folder can I modify that will allow me to setup the zone the correct way? or atleast a way that works...

What you should be using is Freelancer SDK v1.3

Freelancer SDK is set of decompressed ini files(over 1200) from the original game of Freelancer, you can use this package to make your mod making life easier since it contains fixes for all the major errors in the original source. It also fixes the errors caused from decompression, using bini.

You can add nomad encounters in any of the systems files (which are located in DATA\UNIVERSE\SYSTEMS) so long as you add these 3 lines unless of coarse their already there.

[EncounterParameters;<---left facing bracket goes here.
nickname = area_nomads
filename = missions\encounters\area_nomads.ini

And these lines at the zone you want the encounter to occur.

faction_weight = fc_n_grp, 10
encounter = area_nomads, 19, 1.000000
faction = fc_n_grp, 1.000000

For more encounters at the same location you just add entries for more.
encounter = area_nomads, 19, 1.000000
faction = fc_n_grp, 1.000000
encounter = area_nomads, 19, 0.890000
faction = fc_n_grp, 1.000000
encounter = area_nomads, 19, 0.760000
faction = fc_n_grp, 1.000000
encounter = area_nomads, 19, 0.670000
faction = fc_n_grp, 1.000000

The four entries above will produce 16 nomads at the location of your choice.

You must put the area nomads m13 encounter listing at the top of the file where the other encounter paramaters are

Learn to use the Freelancer SDK

If you rely on the Freelancer Explorer, you will never learn anything and will never get a clear understanding of what you are doing.

You cannot give any faction any encounter you want. Therefore - you cannot get nomads flying tranports by giving them an encounter for the transports, they only use the area_nomads and m13 ones.

Also - ensure all encounters parameters in the system have the relevant part in the top of the systems ini file.

anyways on to other business,,, I want to know... is there anyway I can create encounters with nomad battleships. muahahaha now that would make it interesting.
