i have the latest media player 9, it splays it fine.so i guess its wmv9..get it free at m$

XP SHOULD HAVE A earlier version of wmv9 codec

not sure if this'll help ya. however it does play everything I've thrown at it.
it's Media player classic. a gnu open liscence build of MP.

it also played .rm and .mov files too.
if it doesn't work, well, just tryin' to help.
