anyone up for a challenge?

I have not given up, but I am officially calling out for any assistance. I don't want to get too heavy into modding freelancer such as milkshape (though I've used it before). I have my ini file's configured so the patriot on manhattan is the nomad fighter with guns, disruptor, sheild and thruster; the rhino is the titan with the works; and the startracker is the eagle fully loaded as well. Its pretty kewl, but here's the thing. I would really like the eagle and titan on manhattan to be different than the ones in the omicron systems. So I figured I would give them the "nomad" look. I think that would be pretty cool, but I can't get past how to do it. I am not sure if the nomad look is just texturing with alpha channels, or if it is encoded in the mesh. If anyone can help, I'd love to hear your ideas/suggestions.

I dont think it's encoded. Most textures are put into a .mat file format. But with the nomads they used a .txm format. I would think it's for the alfa channels. Probibly has something to do with the transparent effect. But I could be wrong about all that! And there are textures in the .3db format files as well.

Yea, I managed to get a hang of the texture map image editting down ok. Right now I have a dark gunmetal color eagle as I can only change the ge_fighter0?.tga. Looked in the txm file for the nomad, and that has little to no info at all. Infact, the texture library is in the no_fighter.3db file itself. There's four maps... a 256, a 64 and two gradient maps. I'm guessing the gradient maps is what helps get the funky coloring. I also searched for any files referencing to those maps, and only files that were returned were .3db files. SOOOOO, it is my belief I get to come home from work tonight and try to figure out what to edit .3db files with, how to make a whole new tree (my problem with UTF right now is when I add a node, I can't change its name) and how to get the hull of the ship to be transparent and self-illuminating. =\... Too bad I have plans tonight... but at least no work in the morning. So if I can get some caffine... I should be ok. lol.
