Targeted Ships when hit by a Missile, BOUNCES ?!?!?! [?}

As i was experimenting on the ammo of the torpedo's and missile i put a mass = 10000 and a volume = 1. Have you experienced when flying around in the asteroid field when your ship collided with an asteroid you bounce back. That is the same thing that happens to those targeted ships when i use my missile/torpedo on them, they bounce back of course with a damage. Great isn't it.

If anyone already has found this out. He beats me to it and not a new news.

Anyway that what suppose a missile or torpedo must do. RIGHT?

FireBase Ship Pack Beta V.1
you can buy the weapons and some ship at battleship yukon in california.

This mod will be converted into script format for the sole purpose of coexistence with other mods.

Take note this is a beta only.... One ship, the basilisk has no storyline yet. And I will add another ship a VHF class called Raven Claw.

if you are currently using an fl standard ship and standard weapons. You can use your saved game. Just copy it.

aha that's great! Crank up the projectile velocity and send them to the other corner of the system. Freespace 2's kinetic weapons were nice in that you could push the enemy away.

Apparently, the speed of the missile counts as well. I've had my battleships knocked out of the way when a high speed 800kph torpedo hit it before.

aah, this brings back memories again (FS2).
nice find! definately something for tactical weapons! (i made a couple of those, mountable on CD/torp mounts, sunsplayers got boting, so i made a few very different additions)
This is definately something I will try out.

then mass and speed will tickle anyones ship amd knock them off.

A Killer KO maybe. LOL

some1 e-mail me a missile that pushes the person back
and 1 that bounces off the ship

[Explosion}
nickname = missile01_mark01_explosion
effect = li_missile02_impact
lifetime = 0.000000, 0.000000
process = disappear
strength = 100
radius = 24
hull_damage = 600
energy_damage = -100
impulse = 0 ; <= impulse = mass * change in velocity

A value of 8000 should send light fighters flying at full speed from a full stop.

Anyone tried it?
Since this parameter is in the explosion - I would expect all objects caught in the explosion to recieve the impulse -
In case you increased radius to something... larger...

You know, with strategically placed jumps in a system, you could play 3D pool by knocking ships into the appropriate pockets using this bouncing technique.

I remember someone mentioning awhile back they could actually bounce the planets around. If it really worked you could have that be your cue ball.

Make it a small system and you could have yourself a merry time!

to add to the whole blast radius thing, you could also make the explosion invisible and set damage to zero. then youd have a course disruptor missile. probably good for people who are fleeing without using cruise engines in fear of disruptors. just send em off course.

so yeah, huge explosion radius, but make its effect an invisible effect with no damage. would be pretty cool.

The projectile's speed and mass will be the factors in such a matter. I was confused when the ship's speed added in the projectile's speed.
When I am in 3k/s all my weapons' speed doesn't add with my ship's speed so when I fire my weapons I would run faster than these projectiles. However when I fire missiles in the same speed, the velocity of missiles added the velocity of my ship and it went forward with new speed. It just strange factor I found when I was flying around with high speed.

Peace doesn't exist between the livings, but the dead.

thats physics for u
if something is launched at a stand still veloctiy and the launcer launches the same velocity it wil go the speed it got launched at
but if the launcher is moving the added velocity will make the projectile go faster

all of this is because of the mass to speed relation it gives the missle acceleration and more newtons behind it, like a wrecking ball unfortounatlly damage isn't based on speed, mass and amount of explosive like it should be. a good missle should have a weight of 1,000,000 tons and should travel at 300,000 km/s thus allowing the player to knock planets off orbit with a heat seeeking missle that weights 1 mil tons and it traveling at the speed of light, its speed multiplies its weight which is cool, i dont exactly remember the formula for momentum but if anyone does they'll be able to find out with how much force the missle hits.

nobody remembers RonHD? i made the planet moving mod!!! was the coolest mod i made i actually made Pitts moons collide with it, lol

oo! oo! oo!!!
i think i know this one!!
i just have to try to remeber back to 5th grade when we did all these confusing formulas
or maybe i will learn it this year again cuz i got physical science which is coolaww i dont remember
but i think it is
velocity times mass
but im not sure
