Thanks for the support, but bear in mind this is my first real model i've ever made, so don't go overboard!

I partially used GMax to make this, but to be honest, GMax isn't that great. I learnt how to use it, then when a friend of mine at Uni received a copy of 3DSMax for his course, it went from there. Needless to say, 3DSMax is great, and you can export in .3ds straight off.
Now that I think about it though, I could've easily used GMax. The polycount is quite low (on purpose) and the only tools I used were extrude, bevel and the geometry creation menu. Oh and, the ever-critical human eye, of course!

I'm not sure when it'll be ready, since i'm re-arranging (formatting) my hard drives after 4 years of continuous fragmented mashing. I'll get right to texturing it after i've re-installed the critical stuff.

Tyr, i'm releasing this ship as a textured model complete with .cmp, .mat, .sur (if I can find a suitable one) and hardpoint information. Basically, whoever wants to use it, can use it.

I really suck at texturing, so bear with me!

edit: ok, upon failing miserably to create any textures, along with not finding any on the net, i've decided to let anyone who wants to finish this off. It needs to be completed by someone who has done this before, since this ship deserves it. Below is the .3DS exported model - it's one object at the moment, but that's easy to solve by selecting the faces you want to seperate and 'detatching' them.

As for crediting me in relation to mods, it's up to you. Certainly credit whoever finishes it though!

I'll stick to creating my own ships from now on, if and when I get any inspiration. May whoever continues this do a good job!

3dmax is a 8 grand program.

Id love to be at his Uni if their giving those away

Great work on the model mate. The texturing shouldnt be too difficult because the freelancer game tends to make any greys nice and shiny in the game.

Well, unfortunatly the 3ds I can import in milkshape - but the cmp-exporter doesnt export the file. does someone know what the cmp-exporter needs to execute the exporting of a 3D-File?
I don't get some infos there

Someone mentioned that to have it small would be bad, but if it were small it would then be a slip fighter from the same show (if you add a cockpit). They look cool too.

cmp export *should* work with ex-3ds files (I don't see why it wouldn't)

Didn't much work on texturing, just tried to get it into fl.
