Wanted: - Systems designs, Ship designs, Faction help, Beta

the Epsilon Mod Team - Nova Design is looking for the following:

New ship designs:

Anything from light fighters, medium fighters, heavy and very heavy fighters, freighters, transports - through to capships

so if you have a design and would like to see it in a mod..... We would prefer original designs but will look at anything within reason
We have about 40 designs of our own but are interested in others idea's

Systems designs:

Designs that would suit for example - Bretonia ( though we have two systems completed), the Border worlds, Rheinland, and Independent as in primarily Bounty Hunters and Zoners.

We would like descriptions of the system including number of stars, bases, features like asteroid fields and hazards. Plus access points, jumpholes etc.....
If you have made a system that you don’t know what to do with, or even some named and set out sketches please apply. We don’t want sketches or completed systems as yet these can be provided at a later date.

We are looking for 10 - 12 systems for the above areas, but if you have a system for any of the following: Liberty, Bretonia, Rheinland, Kusari, Independent worlds, Edge worlds, Border worlds, or the Corsair system - please apply

Factional helpers:

If you are good with factions - new factions - not rehashes of old we would welcome your assistance. We have the factions documented but would like some help with the actual work on encounters etc.....

Beta testers: some volunteers would be appreciated, those that have already indicated they would like to test should be getting some material soon

you may ask why we are doing this.. the answer is simply time.. sure we could do it all ourselves (well most of it anyway) but would like to complete the mod fairly soon.

All contributors will be fully acknowledged and credited - the list is long already and we have found that the general TLR community is only too willing to help and you wont be forgotten.

Donald,

We would be happy to look at your designs, I can texture them for you if you want or give you a hand to texture them yourself, also we have some models that you could work on if you wish.

Perhaps you might like to send me an email with some piccys so I can check them out.

thanks for the email, and while your designs are interesting, they lack a liitle detail.

well my ships isent 100% ready ....and the polys need to be under 2000 or the game whont like it ...and youre free to do what ever you whant to do with my modells....just e mail me the model(s) whne its ready for Freelancer ....

Donald,

Perhaps you misunderstood me - I said I would help you to help yourself..... not do it all for you, the textures I can do yes - but it is better if you learn to do it yourself .... I do it - you learn diddlysquat, oh and btw a model does not have to be under 2000 polys, take a look at some of Giskards or Porsches models or say Wanderers capital ships they, (some of them at least), exceed this figure.

I will quote from an email I receieved from giskard:

I use the Selpolycount to get the poly count after selecting the entire ship. So what ever it says in there, thats what people are referring too.

The average is 3000 per model but I dont believe there is a limit. However, if all your models have 21,000 polies then each one of your models will be the equivalent of 7 normal ones. Once you hit 16 models in space some computers start to crash. So that would be 3 of yours at 21000 polys = 1 crash.

Hope that explains it a bit better
Im not sure if the crashes relate to the poly count like I've said above but the 16 ship barrier does appear to exist and does cause crashes. Others have said battleships cause crashes too when there are a few of them on the screen so I may well be right here.

well you can try to learn me ....if i learn that ill be doing ships in 2hures :-)
im working fast and the modells youve seen only took me less than 1 hure and i havent looked at any pics at all

hi all,

to give you some idea of the new weapons we are working on I decided to post a picture of the chaingun....... taken after initial testing against nomads and titans in one of the omicron systems ...........

It is perhaps a trifle large for a small ship like this but it works like a dream:

level 6, damage: shield 180, hull 180 refire rate 100.00, man the thing hits like a train but sucks energy like there is no tomorrow, probably really level 12 and we calculated that if you could keep the energy up to it, if someone somehow fired 6000 shots in that minute then damage x rfr = (it would deliver) 1,080,000 damage if they hit with all! That is enough to take out a cruiser..........



It will be available as a turret and rescaled as a small ship weapon...
