create a new ship without changing the model.

Hi there.

I'm new at creating mods for Freelancer. I got a few questions.
I want to create a new freighter. This freighter should have the Humpback model. I only want to change some stats for this new freighter. Like a better shield or high class weapons. You can say I want to create a new Humpback with better stats.
So my question is now: What do I need to realize all this?
What tool do I need and what do I have to do. It would be very nice when you can name me the tool and I will then try to make this whole thing on my own, but it would be nicer when you give me some little advices in modding.

There is a tutorial based exactly upon this, giving details of ids numbres and names using as well.......even better - it is working on the example of the rhino into the rhino2.........
I think it is from the tutorial forum, but here is a link incase your new!
(it was hiding under a ids_name making thread - it should be adding a ship thread!)

And with this tutorial I can make my own freighter? I hope you understand me right. I don't only want to change the stats of the old Humpback. I want to create a new freighter with the model of the humpback and my own stats. I hope I can do this with the tutorial you gave me. Looks pretty difficult!

Yes - you can do it with that tutorial. It keeps the old rhino in the game, and brings in a new one. Just change the rhino parts for the humpback instead and it works. I got it going first time (ages ago) and i used the hammerhead as my basis.........and i knew next to nothing about info cards. The template dll's are difficult to get hold of from Zens site, but once you get em, just follow the instructions carefully! Make sure you back things up, and have all the required things to do the job with (downloads area for the tools). Reshack can befound by searching google for it, and good luck. IT took me a while to do this the first time as i was nervous about poking round in the dll's and so on, but just take your time and it will work out fine
Any questions - then don't hesitate to post here, lots of people are willing to help out!
Enjoy!

FLMM v1.2

I hope that helps out a little - i had to do some searching!

WoW.

Never thought that it is so difficult to create a new ship. Anyways I try to make it. Well thanks for your help Chips. I only need the FLMM 1.2 now. Do you know where I can find this version?
PS: Do you have ICQ? It would be great if you give me your number (or I give mine to you). In case I have questions (and this will surely happen) I can ask you per ICQ on this. So please help me a little bit. I'm doing this for a server I'm playing on.

Keep in mind that this is a tutorial for creating the new ship and keeping the old one, too. If you simply wanted to up the stats on the old ship, it would be infinitely easier. You'd just need to edit a few crucial stats in the shiparch.ini, such as it's hull, weapon classes, handling, cargo, etc.

No no. I just want to create a new one and keep the old.
Oh man this is hard work. And I'm not that good in english
Any germans here, who can help me?

Ahhh help me, I can't open the shiparch.ini with the editor. My PC says its to big so he want to open it with WordPad. When I do this everything in the ini is coded. What shell I do?
