please, leave the cloaking device out of this. the topic is about auto turrets. you don't want this to turn into another one of fear factor's victims either, so just for the sake of the topic, leave it out.

now, as far as abuse, well, anything can be abused really. unfortunately, 99% of the mods contain some info somewhere within them that can be put to bad use. hell, FLMM COMES with cruise enhancing mods, which can be used on most patched servers.

yes, advantages might not be as huge as downfalls, but the people can be ip banned from the server anyway, if they are found abusing this type of mod.

That's besides the point. I dont want to be constantly wondering if I was killed by a real skilled pilot or one using aimbot...i want to actually think they have skills and try to emulate their flying style. =P

you cannot emulate a cheater without cheating, and its even harder on you if you dont know if they are or not.

not all mods can be abused. specifically, any mod that works in MP around the 1.1 patch by definition can be abused in MP. This also applies to something that culd be modified easily to bypass the 1.1 patch (including the autoturret.).

dude, if you fly well enough and fast enough you wont get hit. it shouldn't be very different from what the computer does when you fly against them. besides, it'll be more fun and challenging. and those skyblast Bs will actually do something cool and useful on more ships.

also remember: some turrets only fire in backwards directions. should you menevuer to the front of the fighter, you will be fine.

I agree with wassup. The AI controlled turrets will only be as good as the computer was in Single player. If you cant handle that, then how the heck do you expect to defeat a human pilot? Besides, if we research the procedure enough, we should be able to find a way to disable it if it becomes a problem for multiplayer.....

I don't see what you are all worried about I mean comeon look at the AI shot in single player it is rubbish it is not like they can hit anything and you can't change how accurate the AI is because there is no option to do so.

and who cares if someone makes the weapons over powered, everyone does this anyway

I think I might add this to my mod but make it so that it can only be bought on 4 ships, one for each house and if I get too many compliants about it being mistreated I will bring out an update deleting this feature.

if you look at many other Space Sims, you see turrets that auto fire. This is because there is no possible way to track and fire at an enemy that is behind or beside you, all while you are flying your ship. Especially freighters! The way FL has them now, they are basically sitting ducks! Freighters might have a chance if turrets were there to fend off pirates while you navigate...

my point is i dont want to see someone modify the autoturret design to work on guns as well and somehow increase accuracy to 100%. It COULD happen.

*writing notes* how did you do fully automated turrets? can't seem to get to work with the AI_Range = 999 line in the weapons enein in range

There is A theoretical way to fire fowards and backwards guns at the same time, the only thing is you have to change between forward and backwards view at about 20 times a second

it is possible im sure, though prolly a cheat ive seen players who kept their turrets perfectly in line with my manuvering. even when i installed a bs class engine and went very very fast they still locked the turrets right at me...no matter what angle or whatever.... (notice in turretvieuw u have a prblem with above and bellow, he acted like it just just like horizontal, wich in my oppinion is impossible)

Well, it is even possible to change how clever the AI is. You can edit if the AI Escort of a Leader will stop in the middle and catch up with the group.

This even means that it maybe possible to have fighter escorts AND lots of other things!!

I reckon this has great potential. This could be a good way to give freighter/trade players some power back when it comes to combat....

Just have to make it use MORE power to balance i reckon...
