A Huge Thank You

When Freelancer first came out (seems so long ago now) I remember hoping it would be just like my favorite game ever... Privateer (the classic one, the good one, the FIRST one... not that bloody excuse for a sequel). Althought it did not live up to what I hoped, it was nonetheless very fun after I got used to the idea of not using my joystick.

After the SP campaign was over, I thought FINALLY! Now I can do whatever I want, be a smuggler or a pirate or just kill anyone and see what happens... it soon became clear, however, that the open-ended game was missing a great deal. The missions were very limited in scope... there was no wonderful interaction in space (I loved being able to talk trash in Privateer and hear them get all upset)... it soon seemed kind of -- well dead.

So I stopped playing, and only recently saw the CD lying around and thought "well, I spent $50 on the thing, it might be fun the second time around and last a little while." After playing it a bit more, I returned to Lancers Reactor and was amazed... all the wonderful mods here!

Finally I could have a freighter with tons of cargo, or have battleship encounters in the game... new ships to download and fly, new maps, a whole new world...

Basically, this long winded post is just one guy taking the time out of his work day during break to say THANK YOU, all of you who have contributed something to make that $50 game I bought long ago have new (and better) life breathed into it. FLMM is amazing, OpenSP is just what we needed, the new mission types and ships are incredible! I'm still downloading things and reading about all the wonderful improvements so many of you have made, but I really felt the need to thank all of you for taking the time and going through the frustration to reward us.

Here's to the future!
