Weapon stat question?!?! This makes no sense!

Ok, so I started fooling around with the INI editor. I can edit them all fine and stuff, but there's a problem.

1) Weapon damage. I pump up the damage to even 50,000 for shield AND hull, and there is HARDLY a noticeable change in damage. There was a cheater like me in a server, and he had a modded weapon that killed my unmodded barrier hf shield (class 10) in one hit. I don't get why I can't get the same effect...maybe if I pump up the numbers too much it doesn't work or something?

2) Shield capacity. If I pump up the shield capacity a lot, it goes down QUICKER than it did before....WTF?! Now, if I pump up the hull capacity a ton it takes a LONG time to kill the hull, but shield does not work....???

Any ideas on why this INI editing for weapons and shields is not making me a cheating god?

ini editing is only guaranteed to work for sp. Also be careful not to start a modding war on your server

Answer to the first question:
Weapon damage only reads the server side vaules. You can not have super damage weapon in a MP game if the server admin didn't mod the weapon file.
The guy bring down your shield in 1 shot might have more guns than you think. If a player edit his ship and carry 20 extra guns, others wont' able to see them or tell when he is firing. You may get shoot once by over 30 tizonia combined, though you can never tell.
Answer to the second question:
Same as the weapon, the shield vaules reads the server side vaules. But interesting, you can mod your shield capacity down to 0, and you can shoot players who mounted that shield without any trouble, you will damage his hul since your computer read he has no shield HP. But, you can not mod the shield capacity up, or increase the regeneration rate in the MP.

All server side to increase stuff - including hull - pump it up and it can still be brought down. The real answer to your question lies in two possibilites
1) he modded the refire rate to 0 or 0.0001 = Shields die instantly
2)HE MODDED HIS REFIRE RATE TO 0 or 0.0001
Now i realise that is only one point - but its such a valuable one to make it twice!
Now if your gonna start a modding war on a server i suggest you read my post about calgary first.........see what happens when people start to mod to 1 up each other (in the multiplayer forum)
