come on guys...i was looking forward to some flames....ah well....you get what you paid for...and i paid nothing ....anyway...whichever mod is most popular isnt neccessarily for you....lots of people play the TNG mod now....when i play with mods...i usually play without them for now...until my new mod is finished (not just mine...3 other members...im not gonna use this forum to promote it though)....but when i play with them i usually play with TFK's Bab5 Mod...loads upon loads of ships...not many weapons...but hey....i can make new ones if i want...anyway...think about what kind of mod you want then ask

I think there is no best mod and can't be.

Every one of us likes different things to be moded. Some like mors ships, some are bored with to many ships. Some like more powerfull weapons and equipment, others say that this will make game to easy. The best thing most of us can use is Dan's rebalance, you can simply choose the overall dificulty of the game. But I by myself don't like the game to be changed, I like it to be expanded.
So I like (and make) Massive Addon, which only adds new things to the game.
Some people will like it that way, some will not. So once again, no best mod. You can ask only for Mod I Like the Best, and this was not so far ago at LR pool. Look at results, you will have the answer.

If you want an original mod (everybody in here that knows me will tell you this is true) try Hostile Universe.

It does not use parts from any other mod, though some mod makers use parts of HU. I have worked hard to keep it original and prevent others from stealing the parts that make it special. So i can honestly promise you that it is unlike any other mod you may have seen.

Its not the most popular mod because it only has 7000 downloads from respawn alone and its not the most popular online either because it increases the difficulty level slightly to make freelancer more of a challenge. Puts off a lot of "Elite players" who know there are areas in HU where the titan just cannot but the mustard you see hehe. Yet light fighters do ok. Its all about not being hit in those areas you see.

However the mod has detail added at every level, from wrecks to rumours to a treasure hunt, new commodities, additional story lines, new equipement and tons of original ships as an added bonus. But who wants ships )

Version 7.1 is the current version, Version 8 is currently in the bug fix stage.

I have not been promoting it very heavily until recently because it was very much a work in progress but it still has its loyal fan base even so. Now it is almost complete I am ready to stack it up against any mod in this community, including all the b5 ones, TNG and reballance mod. Most of which use my ships in their mods too so it will hard

i guess i didnt make myself clear. i didn't ask which mod is best -- just the most popular. the reason i specifically mentioned "most popular" is because (for MP) i want to have the best chance of finding servers that run it and (for SP and MP) i'd still like to be able to talk with other people about the game. it was not because i want to be cool or something lame like that (i gave up on attaining "cool" many years ago and instead settled for "swell". sorry for the confusion.

btw, why should i get flamed, parabolix? is this something asked a lot? i did try to find other posts on this topic, but this forum is huge and i could have missed something. in any case, i really hope these forums aren't still full of haterade.

The most popular mod was shown in the LR Pool. But the mods are so different and there are not a clear criteria how to clasify them or give them ranking scale.
And there are many mods made outside LR, so even LR ranking is not adequate. Giskard is right, Hostile Universe is different from others, you may find it interesting. All depends what kind of mod you are looking for.

The best way of finding the most popular online mod is to actually go online and check what the servers are running. Otherwise you may end up with a smash it in SP but a none starter in MP.
