What''s the deal with Nudge_force?

I had it set really high, as I came to understand other people with battleships do, and later learned that the attributes that control handling control how much other ships can push you around. Well, I was having problems with getting knocked around in weird ways, but not by other ships colliding with me. For example, a mine (or several) would throw me hundreds of meters away. Likewise, jumpgates, when I approached them at odd angles to dock, would have the same effect. So, I changed the nudge_force for my ship from a fairly insane 250000000000, to a more reasonable 25. And wouldn't you know it? Those mines and crap don't bother me no more! I believe this has been the trouble with other battleships (npc controlled) but I'm not sure. If anyone else is having fairly erratic and odd jumpiness at odd times (You're cruising along through open space and WHAMMO!, you go soaring in another weird direction for no apparent reason), I recommend you set the nudge_force on your ship way down, if it's up really high. I have not seen any negative side-effects yet, but I'll post any I do find.

nudge_force wasn't supposed to be used that way. It supposed to be used for the autodock and autopilot system. Set it too high and the ship slides all over the place when you dock. Collision effects is determined by the 3 maneuverbility settings instead.
