Sorry for kicking off.

The general place to discuss MOD''ing Freelancer!

Sorry for kicking off.

Hello all.

It is clear to me that ive let a few bad apples seriously effect how i treat all you guys. It really annoys me to see my mod ripped in full when i give so much away willingly and this is the heart of the problem.

As result of my chat with Ty, i have decided to start supporting the communities i mod in as i usually do for others. I think this is a more positive way to promote original mods and put an end to the compilation mods with no original content.

So I will being releasing source material on my website as an appology to this community and then i will continue to keep supporting it as i usually support other communities.

HU systems are still off limits to other mod makers but I will be making and releasing stand alone systems to house all your new ships so existing freelancer bases dont need to be used.

I have decided to release the Milkshape models I have created too, so Noobs can see how its done. I occured to me that there are no examples for them to download and experienced mod makers may not like my hardpoint configurations. This solves both these problems and helps make all mods that use my ships more original. Which is what i want to see more of.

Lancers Reactor may host any of the material I post for Freelancer on Respawn. Just download it and add it to the site. Other sites should email me first. LR will naturally get news of updates from me, other sites will not so its handy to know who hosts what.

Snippets of code that enable certain things will be released along side the other items so those of you wanting to make and modify certain features I have used will be able to see how i did it and make your own version or simply use the code i have supplied.

It should be much easier than following a tutorial.

Sorry for kicking off.
Watch Respawn for releases, the first will be appearing today.

Please note that the source material will not be ready to go mods, they will simply contain the ini entries and source material you need to add to your own mod to make them work. It will be up to you to use them has you see fit.

Im looking forward to seeing how some people use them.

Can you think of a better way to make every mod unique. EG a good texturing guy could improve the textures, a good modder could reconfigure the entire ship for his mod so its fits perfectly.

Best solution all around was releasing the models them selves i think.
Plus several noobs have already told me they learnt more from looking at my models than from all the tutorials they have read so far so its paying off.

Some of those noobs have sent me screenshots of their work. The textures are basic but the ships look great.

Hey Giskard, do you know where i can find a good texture artist? I really don't have any talent when it comes to texturing but i can at least build some good ships. It would really help my work in creating new ships.

lol join the club mate, its an arse to learn, my real problemis im **** at photoshop so it takes age to make my textures but a bit of practise and veryone can do it.

Hay Im not that good at textures either but after reading a few tutorials and practicing i am improving.

Self improvement is the way to go for mod makers. The stuff you learn now will be useful down the road. Even if it takes you a couple of years.

Thank you for the site. That should help me somewhat. Still it would be better if i could find a dedicated texture artist. That way, ships would get off the ground faster and look nicer too.

Hey Wanderer and Giskard, I'm no pro but I'd be happy to trade you some textures for some models Email me, I'd be happy to do some for you and share a few tricks I've learned... just don't ask me to do do people, ships are fine

Hmm, since giskard allready put his milkshape files online I probably owe him some textures

hehe.

Theres a few more tutorials out there but most are connected to 3d renders and reading them requires a good knowledge of photoshop before hand.

I dunno much about making textures but I got pretty good at it when I made skins for Vice City.
