Damn Autopilot

I don`t understand the makers of SpaceSim`s. There is hardly no game which lets the pilot/player LAND or DOCK on Planets or Stations on their own. They think its hard work and no fun to land manually but they are so wrong. Is it possible to mod FL so the players can land and dock like a real pilot in a real space world ? I presume is impossible for landing on planets, but maybe on stations...

you can make landing be triggerd within a certain area.... but i dont think youll ever get exactly what u want, u want to be able to land on you parking place manualy.

Lets look at a few things.

1) Elite. What was the first thing most people went and bought as soon as they had the money?? Docking Computers

2) You own a space station that people can dock with. Would you
a) Let any drunk moron drive his ship through the side of your station, causing who knows what damage and costing $XXX,XXX,XXX.49 to repair.
b) Invest in a tractor beam to pull them in safely at a set rate and flight path

3) You are President/Mayor/King/Grand Poobah of a planet. The choices are
a) tractors beams,
b) docking rings,
c) space elevator,
d) let any moron re-enter atmosphere as they wish, burning up due to the wrong angle of approach, spreading space junk and radioactive dust over the planet.

I know manual docking and landing can be fun, but lets face it. The biggest danger in any form of transportation is the loose nut behind the wheel.
Lets face it, if it were my station or my planet, you wouldnt be landing or docking unless it was my computer in control.

Just my $0.02, but it could just be the cardamine talking.

X:BTF allowed for Manual landing, although I think you could buy an auto pilot. Was quite irritating, especially on the spinning stations.

Space Rogue (really, really early version of this genre) had you dock manually.

Tachyon: the Fringe lets you pilot manually right up to the door. But the instant you enter the station, autopilot takes over.

The first time I had to dock with a planet I thought it was manual and then I burnt up in the atmosphere..........
Then I tried manually docking with freeport9 I think when a bunch of corsirs were chasing me....
I kept ricocheting of the door a bit and was finally destroyed..........
Basically you can manually dock but you can only go REALLY CLOSE TO THE RING ENTRYWAY OR DOCKING DOORS!
