engine glow

OK this is what I want to do: I want to make my ship look like it has 4 seperate engines but in reality it will only have one. Now is there some way to add that engine glow to the 3 other points arround the ship and to have them react the same way. (ex: when you jump to cruise speed they do that effect)

WHY OH WHY WONT IT WORK!!!!

no probs just add engine hardpoints for all your other engine glows, you only need one engine (hey ive got models with over 20 engine flames)
just make sure you set
num_exhaust_nozzles = xx (where xx is the number of engine hardpoints)
in the ship_arch.ini in your ship bit

OK that helps but I'm still stuck on how to add the glows themselves with out having the effect of 4 engines. Right now I have the 4 engine glows along with the engines. So I suppose what i am asking is just how to keep the 4 engine glows that are on there now but only have one actual engine. Right now the ship moves just at a little over 270.....I was hopeing for something a bit slower

hey dude,

sounds like you have more than one engine added to the package in the goods.ini

remember you only need the hardpoints added to the model to get the flames not an actual engine - make sure your package only has one of those ( just delete any of the addon lines that add extra engines)

Hrm...I have it now but I had to buy the ship agian so the changes would take effect. I guess thats why nothing changed. Thanks I finally think i got through most of my problems....now If i can only figure out how to make it so the ship will hit things insted of passing through them

You need the sur collision file. Since no-one knows how to make one yet, borrow an approximation from the existing ships and rename it to whatever its called .sur. Unless the ship is huge, shaped like a pancake or something like that, you should be able to find something.
