Modifying Trent''s/Character''s costumes

There is a costumes.ini file which contains all the info on the looks of all the characters in the games. I have fun modifying Trent's clothing and accessories so that he has a cooler look in the game instead of those ugly brown clothes. The only problem i can find is that it only works when you start a new game and not when you load a saved game....
Does anyone know what to modify in the saved game file to change Trent's clothing? Any help would be very appreciated

What I want to see are NPCs that change their clothes.

How does Juni manage to stay undercover (like pretending to be an academic) all the while walking brazenly around in an LPI uniform?

Actually, I'll settle for a mod that provides a clothing store where you can purchase clothes and accessories. How much for that coat? Those cool looking shades? The borg headgear?

You can swap trent's body and head in the the game directories. Trent's face is pi_pirate5_head and his body is named after him. I'm going to look into the messing with the voice files, maybe try to make him a woman or something... They even have ape faces! Somebody extracted all the heads-look in the downloads section... that way you'll have some clue to what each head looks like.

Be careful! If you swap in female parts for Trent, the results won't be pretty.

ok so there seems to be no way to change the costume of a saved file....

i kinda wanted that cause i would hate to restart the whole game just for a costume...

Yes you can change Trent’s outfit at anytime during the game. It is simply a matter of renaming the body files found in the Freelancer\Data\Characters\Bodies directory.

First make a back up copy of the whole Bodies directory in case you make a mistake or want to restore the originals easily.

From the Freelancer\Data\Characters\Bodies directory choose the body file you want Trent to have .

His default body is: pl_trent_body.dfm.

Copy the body file you require to another directory , change its name to the above and copy it back to replace the default.

You can do this at at any point in the game and as often as you like.
