Engines cause Damage - Just Wondering if...

Im not sure if it has been mensioned in the past ( im new, i only just found this website ) but i thought it might be good if someone could have a go at making a patch which will cause damage from engines/thrusters if you get too close. I thought it would make it a bit more of a challenge as it would mean you couldnt tail anyone too close or your ship would take hull damage and also if the enemy could take damage from your engines if they get too close it would be good.
It might even make the game more interesting online!

I would appreciate it if someone would consider making an add-on for this as i wouldnt know where to begin.

Does sound like a sweet idea. I'm pretty crap at modding, but heres an idea for how to do it :

As it would only really apply to capital ships, stick an extra HP on them as near as possible to the engine. Set the default loadout so that HP is mounted with a new weapon - 'Engine Damage Turret' or something. The define that weapon to have a really high refire rate, no energy drain, a really low damage and a very limited range. Obviously it would have no sound effect or visible projectile.

Its pretty crude but well within current modding capabilities.
