Cowboy Bebop Modding...

Hello,

As most of you are noticing I am new to the Lancer forums and all, but I have been checking out the various mods found here and have generally liked alot of them. I am not a modder myself, but ANYWAY, I just wanted to throw out an idea to those of you who do mod and especially if you're good at ships this will be a good one.
There is a rather popular anime series called Cowboy Bebop about space bounty hunters. I thought that the four main ships used by the main characters would be an excellent addition to the Freelancer game. I have posted links to pictures of the ships here (I apologize for some of them that aren't too helpful) and think that they should range from Freighter to light to heavy fighters and once you've seen the pics you can guess why.
(These below are some pics and their stats)
Ship Name: The Bebop
http://www.asteroidblues.com/bebop.html
Ship Name: Swordfish II
http://www.asteroidblues.com/swordfish.html
Ship Name: Redtail
http://www.asteroidblues.com/redtail.html
Ship Name: Hammerhead
http://www.asteroidblues.com/hammerhead.html
(This site below has many pics of the different ships which should help abit)

Also if anyone out there is a fellow Bebop fan and has the time to redo the in game music I would also like to see the song Adieu (From Real Folk Blues Part I) for the bar music (any or all bars) and Tank! (Main theme) and Real Folk Blues somewhere in the game I'm not sure where to put the last two though so your guess is as good as mine.

Well, thanks for hearing me out and I hope to see these mods in action soon.

Hakivar made a swordfish model and leonhart made a skin for it so it should already be done. I thought about emailing him but forgot about it.

how about we have faye as a ship and her breasts can fire uber-torpedos.

Heretic

Space Lion works amazingly well for the Sigma, Omega, and Omicron general space themes.

Too Good Too Bad is, of course, the most astounding race theme you could ever find.

Meanwhile, Rush , Road to the West , The Real Man , Odd Ones , and New York Rush are all perfect combat themes.

As for bars, you really want Felt Tip Pen , Piano Bar , Waltz for Zizi , Pot City , and Don't Bother None to make it perfect.

Tank! and The Real Folk Blues don't actually work in game.

You also spelled Spiegal wrong.

But putting them into a public Mod is copyright violation, and I really don't do copyright violation when it comes to Cowboy Bebop. Models are one thing, but music is another. You're doing Yoko harm, damnit!

If someone can do these ships it would be great! I'd love to zip around in the Swordfish....

Thanks for letting me know I spelled it wrong, but it was about 12:30 or so in the morning when I registered and posted so I wasn't really here.

Anyway, I know what you mean about the violations with the music. I was just throwing the idea out there mainly. Thanks for the song suggestions though too, I'll have to look into those.

If someone finds out if the swordfish model was finished and better yet can find the link for download I'm sure we'd all appreciate it if the link was posted some where on the reactor.

I also had the though about some of you more ambitious modders out there possibly doing a Bebop TC, but A: That would take lots of time and work and B: As was mentioned in a previous post it might be considered illegal so I didn't think about mentioning it except in the context that I was thinking about it. Oh well.

And in regards to Faye being a ship and her breasts firing torpedoes....yeah.... that's all I have to say about that really. Creative, but not what I'm looking for. Although if you could make a skin of faye to replace Juni be my guest. I'd rather take orders from her if she looked more like faye, wouldn't we all? LOL

I wouldn't. You'd turn your back for a second, and your brand new Eagle would be missing, along with all your credits.

Though I'd love to cruise around in the Bebop...

As for the TC, that doesn't really fall into the violation thing as much. Fan made Models and art are one thing, but the actual official music being put into Mp3 and distributed to the public in a Mod would be pretty bad.

Not to mention HUGE.

The TC itself would be difficult too, as while there are lots of ships in the Bebop universe (well, solar system), they're not well informed about. Though seeing the Swordfish II et.al. would be nifty.

That's not to stop you converting those music files over yourself on your own PC, though. Just convert the Mp3s into Wave files, then save those waves into either a 16bit or 8bit, Stereo, Unsigned wave file format, at 22050khz or 11025khz, I think.

Then just rename the file to which music track you want to write over, and voila!

Post Thu May 29, 2003 6:49 am

Thanks, I'll have to try that sometime. Gotta find out how to convert them though.

If you download Goldwave, that'll do it all for you. Providing you have LAME installed on your PC someplace. If not, just look both of them up in a search engine.

Failing that, find an Mp3-to-Wav converter, and then use the (albeit rubbish) windows sound recorder.

Of course, this is all after you've converted it to Mp3 from the actual OST CD. Goldwave'll do that too.

So are we any closer to getting a cowbiy bebop mod? I've been waiting for the Swordfish to appear for ages now...

Post Tue Jun 24, 2003 7:44 pm

Yeah, I heaven't heard anything about it in awhile either. Doesn't seem like we'll see it soon.

Yeah.... *sigh* It's a real shame too, cos there is a Swordfish model around... it just needs skinning. If only i knew how to do skin and had the time, i'd try it myself.
