Weird Thought

right i was searching the internet for something or other yesterday. and came across something (ok i came across a load of stuff but his was the interesting fact)

a while back DA (or an offshoot) were working on a game called Conquest: Fronteir Wars it was to be released by M$(or so the sites i was on say) but they didnt like it and dropped it. Ubi-soft picked it up and released it (still with me or have i bored you yet?)

ok the interesting part, the ship file format was .cmp and .3db (anyone notice a ressemblence here). now they release a set of modding tools for this game with editors and veiwers. as i dont have this game i was wondering if anyone else had and would be willing to see if the tools (objview especially) opened freelancer ship files.

i just thought this was too big a coincedance (same company (or bits of it any way), same time game was being developed, same file format) to go by with out a mention.

hey it might pan out to be something completely offtrack but it cant hurt to try LOL

Yes, some of them do. VU will open the CMP and MAT files just as the UTF editor does. ObjView opens the CMP files and you can read all the HP stuff, but it refuses to show the model. I'm wondering if there is a way to make ObjView load the MAT files too but I can't figure out that Ubisoft piece of crap.

Also the unofficial unpacker will extract all of the files from inside the CMP. Only problem is that the thing exports them all into folders, not files.
