the key to the locked gates

another question probaly asked alot but i can't find is which .ini file is used to control which gate is locked and unlocked. So i can unlock the gates like Alaska etc. I know there are already mods out there that already do this but i want to know how to do it myself.

There is a bunch of locked_gate entries in InitialWorld.ini and it seems that the savegames pick them up from there.

I think some mods enable the jumpgates by modifying the 'visit' value for the jumpgate (or jumphole) in the .ini where it is defined, i.e. universe/systems/<system>/<system>.ini

ok i've tried all that with no luck. I'm gonna give up trying to but is there any links for downloads of simple mods that do unlock those gates.

In the mods you always have to load a game before the SP missions are over. Is there anyway to make it open in any save game. I would lose dozens of hours of play if I loaded an old SP game
