modding limited in MP

You cannot really do much modding when you are in MP.
1. you cannot alter the dll files
2. the stats of weapon, ships and shield can only be altered in a range with a upper threshold
3. MAT and CMP cannot be altered in such a way that other players can see how your ship looks like
4. added object in the system can have abnormalities when you are playing in MP

The above problems do not exist when you are in SP

It is generally considered poor manners to run modded on a server without the server admin permission. If the server is modded, it is best for all clients to be running the same mod or risk crashes. With that in mind, it is then possible to make all of the same types of mods in MP as it is for SP.

Finally, if you want to test a MP mod, start the FLserver running on your own system and connect to it. Since the MP and SP use the same FL install, the mod will be available to both client and server.
