Ok I posted this in the tutorials section, wondered why I got no response and then found out I was in the wrong section.... anyway.. lol. Ok this is my first mod for FL, but I've made mods for other games. so anyway I am following a 'building a system from scratch' tutorial.... well I found the jumpgate leading to my system... its just that when I click to target my jumpgate... it says its like 90 k away, even though I see it right before my eyes..... when I click on goto, it starts auto piloting me to the alaska jumpgate, where, if I do not stop, I get the **** blown out of me by mines... but anyway, why does it seem to think that my jump gate... is the same as the Alaska one? or whatever.. lol... i dunno if Ishould post the data from my .ini's here, tell me if you want to see it...
sounds like you messed something up with the nicknames..all nicknames have to be absolutely unique! Otherwise you will encounter the real odd stuff.
The following object definition works for me

...ids_name, ids_info, msg_id_prefix can be used various times. I use this jumpgate object several times, only changing the marked lines and encounter no problems at all (except that all jumpgates have the same name etc)...but they do work!

ok thanks man... well i had to go to bed last night when i posted this... today, i selected the jump gate, pressed goto, and it sent me 90 k in the opposite direction of the gate! when i got their, i was near battleship missouri and there was ANOTHER jump gate!? so i dock and when i get in it crashes =/...
ok well i used that in my ini and made the adjustments... still same result... the only change i can tell of is that now the jump gate has a name, New york -> California?!

Bro, that's a really screwed up problem ya got there, all I can tell you is what the other guy told you, I think it has something to do with the nickname of your jump gate. How many jump gates do you have in that system? and if you have more than one, delete them all and start a new one from scratch with a totally new nickname. That's all I know to tell ya my man.
