Far-Fetched mod...

I was bored a few days ago in work, staring blindly at the TV when i started thinking about possible Freelancer mods. I was thinking if it would be possible to have clans with each clan having a base, recruiting people etc. and being able to buy and sell things (actual good amounts etc). AND be able to buy the equipment to MAKE things. Things like ships, weapons, miners (to get resources) and anything really. I know this probably would never happen realistically and i cant start it as my programming knowledge is 6months of vB. The more i think about it though, the more im sure, with ALOT of hard work, it could be done. e.g to make a ship) you need to collect all the different resources (like engine componants, ship hulls, super alloys etc) and have construction equipment and then press the "build" button :-P
Im sure ive seen someone else mention something along the same lines as this, but i still think it would be an ace MOD. Any comments/flames etc???

I believe what you are describing is the X universe. It is a game universe developed by Egosoft and started with X-Beyond the Frontier, was expanded upon in X-Tension, and will soon have a whole new release with X2.

Build a new game would be easier. FL is RPG, if these clan features added to it then it will become strategical game.
