How to Edit MAT files?

I've seen the CTE House Schemes Mod, and all that jazz, but I want to know what utility do you edit the ships' *mat files?

Dumbo? Read the first post again! I am not asking to edit UTF files, it's the cv_ship.mat files!

by this i assume you have read none of the trutorials (or have no clue????) .

have you even tried to open the mat file with the UTF editor? if you have you will find out that the .mat files are in UTF FORMAT.
