install freelancer twice?

i run a modded server but im always updating it and making changes,
if i was to install freelancer again into a different dir would this allow me to change and mod that install rather than having to mess about with my main install of the game.thanks

well u cant install it the proper way because it will just show the play game option,but u can copy the whole freelancer dir somewhere else.like a temp folder and it will fine from there so u can make any test changes in there untill ur ready to put them into ur proper install dir.

Well I did something similar and it works too. Here is what I have done:

I had freelancer Trial and freelancer.I copied data and all other files from freelancer to freelancer trial.Now I moded freelancer trial and left freelancer normal so I have 2 game directories one moded one not.

NOTE that both games will use same save files so you might want to zip the saves you do not use.

On my PC it is so:

3 Freelancer Versions: Freelancer Modding Version
Freelancer Internet Version (just Nomad Laser)
Freelancer Original Version(no Mods)

I have 3 Copies of DATA, DLLS and EXE
Freelancer
Freelancer modded
Freelancer modded (In Development)

I wrote batch files wich rename the needed folders, so i don't play Online with a modded version (not that it would be a bonus)

Wow.
I never even tried to run my second folder's exe. I stopped using it entirely because I got tired of shunting files back and forth. This simple expose has just saved me a lot of grief.
