changing the starting ship

can someone tell me which .ini file where you can change your starting ship from the Starflyer to whatever

take a look into:
/DATA/CHARCTERS/newcharacter.ini

...there are the settings for ship / loadout /money etc.

I figured out how to change the starting ship in both sp and mp but I really dont want a bunch of flamming replys if I post it.

Why would anyone flame you for posting information on how to change the starting ship?

I still want to see what happens when I change the SP ship set up in:

\DATA\MISSIONS\M01A\m01a.ini
Act_SetShipAndLoadout = ge_fighter, msn_playerloadout

to something else, like ge_fighter4.

I happen to have already tried changing the starting ship in SP using the file you mention, but when i hit the accept button for the first mission (the trigger to setplayership=whatever), the game bombs out.

Darn-diddly-arn-darn. And i so wanted to have juni give me a sabre...

Incidentally, anyone who can get this to work would do well to make a mod out of it, or at least let the rest of us know how.

Did you change the loadout as well? The loadout is in the \DATA\EQUIPMENT folder and must have the proper engines, etc. for the ship you want Juni to give you....

nah, single player is differenct, since you receive the ship from Juny.

(at least i think so, i havent tested it, yet someone i told so said that it did work)

you have to edit the MISSIONS\m01a.ini

change Act_SetShipAndLoadout = ge_fighter, msn_playerloadout to whatever you want (you gotta search for the ships / loadouts first though )

Act_SetShipAndLoadout = bwe2_package, fc_lh_bw_elite_loadout01 would be a sabre.

Exactly. The thread follows that the ship is changed where you mentioned in the mission file, but right behind it is the load out..

Act_SetShipAndLoadout = ge_fighter, msn_playerloadout

which needs to be modified in the \DATA\SHIPS\loadouts.ini (first entry) to have appropriate equipment for the ship you are trying to have Juni give you. If you just change the ship and not the loadout it will crash as the archtype for the ship is wrong.

ahhhhhhh.... I'm glad someone had asked and others had answered the question.
I was just looking for answers to the exact same question.

I changed a bunch of stuff... but for some reason not everything was working...
I'd end up with the same starflyer but with class 10 shields and cl10 weapons... but couldn't figure out why the ship was still the starflyer...
