Miss my old Crusader....

Just had a thought, but has anyone looked at altering the existing ships to a point where they are more level with one another?

Its a given that in Single player the ships are part of the difficulty curve and all, but it would really add something to MP if players could choose from a wider range of ships for their PVP entertainment. Personally i am really bored of all the eagles, and wish my old Crusader could compete with the big boys... and i am sure theirs plenty of other pilots out their who fell in love with the house ships who would love to take on a titan in their VHF of choice... rather than being stuck with the big three.

It doesn't have to just be the VHF's either, as all the different ship classes could use some balancing... the Patriot is gorgeous, but inevitably gets dumped due to its low weapons selection...

i'm not saying make all ships in a given class act the same, but if we could level the playing field a bit within the classes that might lead to a bit more originality in ship choice... as it stands at the moment the ship progression tends to get mapped out fairly quickly and we end up with half a server of eagles... very boring.

So, anyone looking into this? or has it already been done?

I don't know if my mod is what you seek, i changed quite a lot with the ships:
* Every Faction has its strength and weaknesses (some are faster, others can use better weapons etc.)
* The shipclasses differ more:
- LF are now more like Interceptors, they are fast (avg. 100) and are the only ships with Cruise Disruptors
- HF are just what their name suggests, with stronger weapons and shields than Light fighters, but slower (avg. 90)
- VHF are now Bombers, they are slow (avg. 80), have no Afterburner, but can mount the best weapons and shields and are the only ones with Torpedos
- Freighters are very slow (avg. 50), but with more cargo hold
* Scanners, Tractorbeams and Armorscales are buyable
* If you buy a ship you only get the ship, nothing more (no scanners, no tractorbeam, no shields)

The Mod is not finished yet, and i dont know how to change .dll's yet, but if you're interested i can get the files online, just drop me a mail at [email protected]

Very nice craith, I was wondering how you got the armor scales to work cause i couldn't. Cheers. By the way, in the tutorial section there is a dll tut .

Yeah. More balancing is what we need. Lesser level ships with BIG weapons in single player and a PK guild piloting a swarm of Piranhas while in Omicron 17 in multiplayer instead of ALWAYS EAGLES.

Now, I don't use to beg but that mod will be very apreciated.
