Where to find??

I've got a few questions:

- In what file(s) can I find the descriptions of al the ships and equipment?
I want to change them, and I suppose that when I do so, it will automaticaly change in the game and that would be nice.

- Also, I guess it's possible to duplicate an equipment, for example a Thruster, but with different stats, what do I have to do in order to make it appear in the game, with the new stats working.
Every item and ship has it's own ID, so i guess it has to has it's own ID then, but do I have to fill a "no excisting ID" in for my new item, weapon, thing?
