Where did all the gravity go?

What's the dealy yo. Everything has mass but nothing has attraction.
Anyone have a clue about this? I think gravity was taken out because it sure looks like the variables are there for it.

i think mass is only used for recoil from collisions.

There is no gravity anywhere in FL, afaik

Mass determines acceleration of ships, as well.
Raise the mass without raising the engine force, and it takes longer to accelerate.
It will also decrease handling a little bit (though not much).

yea it would be cool if there was gravity so you could sling shot around planets

Yeah, cool, but if you're going to slow than SPLAT!!

The Elite games fx. used a Newtonian (smartass word - I learnt it on an Elite fan-site :) flightengine that allowed for sligshots and stuff like that, but fighting was really lousy because you had to do it while flying a zillion miles per hour - Freelancer and lots of other games just "forgets" about gravity because it makes it more funny to play ..

I dunno what I would have liked best - but a Newtonian engine isn't very user freindly.
