Rotating Sections on Big ships "eg capitol ships"

Is it possible to add rotating sections to a ship, Like for example, take babylon 5, the earth cruisers have rotating sections to maintain gravity.

I've seen some stations that have rotating parts, is it possible to incorperate that onto something like a ship?

I've taken a look at the ship code and I can't find anywhere that might have some form of animation to it. If you can find a station that has a rotating section on it, like those in New York, then maybe you can find the INI and check out the code for those stations. Maybe something is there. Then again, maybe the rotating section is a completely seperate entity, a second station that's simply rotating (for example) and that would make it impossible to add to a ship.

Another thing to think about. Those stations are stationary. I'm not sure how fast ship movement would effect the animation or if it would even be possible. I've been trying to look into this topic because I want to make a rotating section a couple bases I'm making for my recently started System mod. They'll be somewhat like B5, in the way they rotate, but will look more like the ISS. (international space station)

And no, there is no release date or any other information comming out soon in regards to this system mod. However, as I'm building it myself it might be up to a month away because of all the coding I have to do. As well, it will be FLMM installable, unless FLMM has a cap on how big it's scrypt file can be. *LOL* And it will have a nasty install time. *notes his battleship mod takes 30 seconds to install as it is*

All I can say is..... New system (a couple, if I have time), new race (something even lvl.10 guns will have a challenge with), and new "shadow" ships (no, I'm not talking B5 shadows).

At any rate.... Hope this question gets answered soon cause I have alot of work to do with rotating parts that I can't presently do...

BTW, is it just me or does it look like the makers of Freelancer gave the Rheinland Battleship project to someone that didn't know how to draw anything more than Rectangles and Cylinders? I mean, with the exception of the engine, it's a flying box. Hell, even I coulda designed something a little more menacing. Not that I'm not already.

Now, the Liberty battleships...... Those rock!

you can equip the mining vessel with animations.
without them, the arms in front are still, with them, the arms go up and down and from side to side. Should be possible to do rotations.

whoops:

try making the gas_collector flyable, it's got a HUGE ROTATING thingie!!
it's not flyable, but it shows that rotations are already in the game. so there.
