FX editing

Is it possible to add new FX like engine glows, gunfire, contrails, afterburners, etc? I don't have FL on this computer, so I can't check it at the moment.

There are only 10 kinds of people in the world:
those who understand binary, and those who don't.

As far as I know, no. FX effect are mostly stored as .ale files, and no one around here knows that format yet, sorry.

After I did extension search on http://www.filext.com the only .ale result was this http://www.avid.com.And guess what they have Avid Xpress DV v3.5 for image editing they say it is the best of the best. This is what they say

Avid Xpress DV v3.5 is built on a revolutionary real-time architecture that delivers more than 100 customizable real-time effects, professional-level color correction with waveform and vectorscope analysis, and multiple simultaneous real-time streams - all in software. You can preview a title, apply a dissolve, perform color correction, and animate a picture-in-picture effect simultaneously - all without rendering. And only Avid Xpress DV v3.5 allows you to customize every parameter of every real-time effect and see it all right away. Avid gives you the creative freedom you want and the image quality you need to deliver professional-grade video on a desktop, laptop, or mountaintop - anywhere your imagination takes you.

Have no clue if it would help, and I would like to check it but it does not look like they have demo.

I may be wrong on this one, but judging from the dll's, the .ale format used by Freelancer is called "Digital Anvil Alchemy Files" format. It seems DA made up their own filetype, or at least modified an exisitng one enough so no freely distributable tool could handle them.

I really hope someone proves me wrong... I'd love to toy around with them, too. ^_^"

Heh..I'm guessing you googled your way to that page..right? Doesn't really connect DA with Intrinsic.

I've been looking at the .ale files for a while and eventually ended up at Intrinsic. I'm not convinced that they had anything to do with FL's .ale files, but if anyone is wiser, do tell.
I've still been making a bit of progress figuring the format out, though.
