Veteran modders, do you think this is possible??

As you all know. F2 is a kind of auto pilot that gets you to the waypoint. Is it possible that an alternative 'auto pilot' mod be made so that this F2 will actually get you to your destination instead of just to the nearest waypoint?? e.g. make a plan from New York to Leeds using the best route method, then launch and press F2 and it will take you all the way to Leeds before it is stopped. Of course, you can also interrupt the auto pilot should situation arises.

Any thoughts, veteran moders?? Do you think something like this is possible??

Good question, but I'm sure it would involve some pretty heavy coding to make it tell your ship to dock with the docking rings and jumpgates/holes by itself. Not really any point to doing it though, since you'll still have to babysit your ship to make sure you aren't dropped from a trade lane or pulled out of cruise by some dumb bounty hunter and his friends.

If you can fetch the source code from freelancer, why not?
