multiple textures on a mod

right now im trying to make a freelancer ship addon/mod/whatever. i already knew how to 3d model from a game called X Wing Alliance.

anyways, looking at the one tutorial a lot of people seem to point to for help (the one with creating the sphere), i only saw it using one texture. after many hours of browsing this forum, i am still unsur if a ship can have more than one texture or not. i would uspect so, but, like i said, im not sure.

also, do textures have to be a bmp or jpg or anything, and do their dimensions matter?

thanks in advance

Your ship can have more than one texture and yes, the dimensions matter. The most common size is 256*256 (but you can use 128*128 or 512*512).

A simple advice: Don't draw and map your textures as you used to do it in XWA (almost face by face), FL texturing is much closer to Half-life texturing technique (which is much easier in Milkshape3D).
