Modded ship bug: LF adopts modded ship weapons.

Hello.

I've been busy making a Heavy Armoured Transport. I added several hardpoints to it, stacked 6 large turrets on it and thought that will do. Anyway i tested it and it was fine. Then i sold it and brought another ship.

An unmodded ship.

When i looked it the new lvl1 Rhino i had brought it has turrets all over it, the same turrets my old ship had. So i brought a light fighter instead and that too adopted the huge turrets. Made me laugh to see a light fighter with turrets bigger than it was attached to it.

Anyway, the problem is this.

How do i fix this issue ?

Any ideas ?

I've seen this happen before.
I currently have a Starflier with a Liberty Cruiser forward gun mounted to it
If no one comes up with any answers for you, I'll look into it tomorrow. I know other people can come up with the reason for this off the top of their heads, though.

Hey gisk, its MC. try this:
unmount all weapons first, THEN buy a new ship.
THEN see what happens.

Hello all.

I think MC hit the nail on the head on my Respawn forums (hi MC, bet you find me easier to spot then i do you hehehe). He suggested the equipement ini which i have not edited yet may be the answer. All the turrets effected are NPC parts and thus have not be setup yet for purchessing by the players. I think im going to have to seek out the parts and set them up properly so they cannot possibly be fitted to light fighters. That way they wont be automatically adopted when i change ships.

Thats what i think is happening.

npc guns have no class and thus can be mounted on any hardpoint, even a class 1 HP. Think of them as "class 0"
All equipment gets carried over to your new ship when you buy it, and mounted on it.

just an idea, what about making them class-specific like shields are? is it possible?

the different classes are specified in .DLLs, so it would be trouble to add new ones.

I've been thinking of abolishing classes 1-3, to reserve 3 classes for capital ship guns.
