FL editing questions.

Hello.

Thanks to the guys who wrote the guides, the faq and linked all the forum data together. Its been very useful to me over the last 2 days. However I have some questions that still remain. I am hoping people can answer them.

1) Does FL read in all the DLL's in the DLL folder automatically. EG if i dropped my own in that folder, would it be read in by the game too. ?

2) Does FL ever need the player to create a new character as a result of modding ? I've heard it does from people who dont mod but id like more info on this if possible. EG when and where this usually happens to be true if known.

3) Does anybody have a good Armoured Transport config ?
The liberty police type ship that can dock at any station yet has a decent cargo hold size ?

4) Universe maps: anybody have a link to info regarding the universe screen and new systems. I've seen some of the new system info but id like more info on the universe screen and how to exactly place my system at a certain location.

Hope you can help.

1. Custom DLL files are referenced in EXE\freelancer.ini. Most custom DLLs are added to the EXE\ directory, because they are resource name/info DLLs. The only DLL in the DLL\BIN\ folder is content.dll.

2. Some modifications require a fresh game, others do not. I'm not sure which does and which doesn't, but I'm sure there's a general rule of thumb. Nothing I've tried to date has needed one, though I always create a new character on my server for testing.

3. I haven't seen it come up, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to rig one together.

4. Oh, geez...good question. A quick search for "universe" in Dawn's new system tutorial turns up this:

[system
nickname = Da01 ;change this
file = Systems\Da01\Da01.ini ;and this
pos = 7, 9 ;that position is direct aboce new york
msg_id_prefix = gcs_refer_system_Li01
visit = 0
strid_name = 196609
ids_info = 66106

This is in the universe.ini. pos = seems to be what you're looking for. New York is positioned at 7, 8 and I believe Colorado is positioned at 7, 7. Dawn says Da01 is directly above NY, though. I'm a little confused by that, 'cause I'd assume Da01 to be directly blow. Anyway, hope this helps.
