A few idea''s

1 - A way for the server admin to have more options when making a server. Like starting money, ship, equipment, starting faction template (lawful, netural, crimal), a way to have PvP selected by a player-by-player choice instead of by the server for everyone.

2 - A mod to make all starting players have completly netural factions. I'm talking right down the middle for every single faction. That way, when you start out, you can decide between being lawful or criminal without having anyone trying to kill you untill you decide to start shooting.

3 - Increase mineable goods drop rate to 100%. Just think, with idea 2 and a large cargo hold to start with, you can fill up with coper in Colorado and sell it at Pablo to make tons of cash.

4 - Add a "General Equipment" slot(s) to ships. This would cover things like ECM's, sensor stealth systems, cloaking, better sensors, .

5 - ECM's. They would act like always there countermesure's. Of corse they would not be anywhere near as effective as them. For example, a regular CM is 70% effective, where as a basic ECM would be around 20%. Now I know that sounds weak, but think about this. It is working like you are holding down the CM release key and you can drop a CM at the same time. It will make it easyer to get away from those NPC ships that are too stupid to relise that you can kill them on a wim. Of corse the % of effectiveness can be tweaked, or it could just take over for the CM.

6 - Sensor Stealth System. Could work by ether compleatly making your ship unselectable, or just reduceing the range other ships can see you at. It does NOT make your ship invisable. So a humen can still see you and try to aim without the red plus sign. Would be very useful for running around with contraband and not getting busted, even when near the docking rings for the capital plants where I have been scaned every 10 sec before.

I may come up with more ideas later on. So stay tuned, same time, same chanel.

not bad ideas. however, its gonna be hard.

and soon, everyone would have stealth, and no one would be able to kill anyone else.

We know how to do a chunk of this already, don't we? You can define the starting money, base, ship, and friendlies (I start off completely neutral on my LAN). The only problem is that those become the default for all new characters. I think a cooler idea is for a simple server-side app that can be used to easily change these settings, instead of digging through the ini's. That way when you boot up your server (assuming you're not 24/7) for the day, you can also create add to, say, the Xeno population, instead of the LSF.

You can add just about any kind of slot you wish to a ship, or change the current ones. The only major problem there is that as of yet, sensor jammers and cloaking devices don't work correctly. And they may never work correctly, due to incomplete code. If sensor jammers ever come online, then all of a sudden ECM's simply become weak, lower level ones.

I think the loot/asteroid ratio's defined in the asteroid field zone. So sure, you can make each asteroid pump out three bits of loot, five, whatever. I admit that mining's pretty damn slow at the moment, but it shouldn't be that quick, either. Perhaps creating pockets of profitable asteroids, so as to give people something to hunt down and protect?

So yeah, the meat of the difficult stuff is really the cloacking and sensor jamming. You can already make improved sensors (though you can't actually SEE any NPC beyond 3km or so), change starting info, etc etc. Maybe if we're good little boys and girls, Santa will bring us those things that are not so easily obtained.
