SUR Info
Howde,
I've been searching the forum for almoast 2 hours now and can't find anything to help me out so I'm puttin out the request and hoping there are still friendly and knowledgeable people out there willing to lend a fellow modder a hand.
I've made 3 ships for Freelancer so far. They have a body, textures, and even information that appears in the ship purchase area. The only issue I'm having is the lack of an SUR file. Half of my ships can pass through things and it just isn't right.
The question I have, and it's probably a stupid one, is how do you go about making an SUR file? I've checked in MilkShape for an exporter of some kind and looked all over this forum for information. Do you just save the mesh as SUR? Is there a program you need to make one? Or do you have to be an expert coder and basically map every edge of your ship? Any help would be appreciated.
Also, I've noticed people wondering how battleships would work and I thought I would lend my experience here. A few friends and I have a server running 24/7 for Freelancer. I made a model of a large battleship, which is quite easy to do, using standard weapon ports and the like. The cargo hold for the battleship is 7000 and I have it capable of docking at a burth. The way I purchase things is by having my flight squadron (my friends) dock and buy them for me. As well I have a list of every commodity you can purchase in freelancer and made my own buy/sell list for things my battleship carries. Like any place I pay people good money to bring me the commodities I sell at a good price.
However, at the moment if I really wanted to I could dock the battleship at a base because the colision file it's using is for the fighter you initially get in Freelancer when you make a new character. I want to make a proper SUR so the battleship has a body. Help please!
