Mission Editor

Does anybody have an idea how to edit / create new missions?
Every hint is welcome!

Yes, its been determined that you need to be skilled in assembler code as the mission files are hard-coded. Check out the previous discussion on missions at:

Hope that helps.

I'm curious. I think that a mission editor - on the long run - is more important than all hacks and edits.

Personally I think it would have been nice if the game had come with a SP mission builder, I've got that many ideas for SP campaigns/missions going through my head I'm getting a headache!!
But until such a time as it's a lot easier to make SP missions (eg, not having to write hundreds of lines of code) they'll have to stay in my head...anyone got any asprin??

I dont know about you guys but the deeper i go into the FL system stuff the more im finding. In fact, I already have enough info to see the existing guide is almost totally useless and im just getting to missions.

Still working on encounters.

The missions though, to me they look like they are buried in the infocards somewhere or the nameresources. Theres a lot of references to those from very add places. Also the npcs appear to have a lot of stuff buried in those dlls too. Might have to make a DLL just for the NPC's missions and stuff.

BTW NPC's in the mbase file are pretty smart, if you change the faction to a custom one as i did, the popup name still says the original name and faction the npc belonged too but during the actual chat the ncp avoids saying he originated in liberty. Troubly is, the missing voice over was spoken by guy who original spoke it so the enter voice over has to be remade if it is to match.

But im waffling.

First of all, a mission editor/level editor is very important and we really need one. The good thing is, there is one in development, but the program is in a very early stage and so, we have to wait a little bit, until you can call it a real "level/universe - editor".

The second point is, that you can build your own system(s), where you can add whatever you want. You can e.g. give your own ships, a route to patrol or something else. And this is only the beginning.

Every day, while I´m here on the boards, I can see people, who have new ideas (dreams) or already made these become true.

I think, in the near future, we´ll have really nice editors, to change everything much easier than now!
