Is anyone including these FEATURES in their mod?

Is there a Mod out there that allows the ship to be upgraded thru experience/kills/ranking?

Like if you get a certain amount of kills or for every rank you get points which could go into upgrading a ship's manueverability/weapon energy regen/extra hull/ or faster boosting thrusters. Now those would be very cool features to be incorporated into a mod.

Plus, it would increase replayability and add whole new dynamics to the game play.

ps. I know this was posted in the Discussion forum, but someone suggested I post it here.

Isn't that already in the game?

You kill ships (or trade), wich gives you money, which allows you to buy a new ship and/or equipment...

Just think of the $$ as "rank/level" points.

I tried that system you were mentioning in Earth & Beyond (from westwood/ea).. It worked great for the first 30 or so levels, then it became slow.. Apparently, alot of people left for that reason. (well, im sure that the fact that you had/have to pay for it didn't help much for some people...)

I understand what you are saying but let me clarify it so there's no confusion. Each individual ship would have it's own starting stats and with each 'level' (loose term) increase they would be able to increase the attributes of a particular ship. You would have endless combinations like a Humpback or a Titan having the manueverability of an Eagle. An Eagle with near cruise speed boost etc... Each ship would be modded to particular person's interest. How about a stat that increases cargo space?

Of course it would need a lot of balancing but I think it would add replayability to the game. What do you think?

Maybe you could link the player level to the amoount of kills you have. Then u would go up lvls for killing ppl.

Use PE Explorer to look and hack the code for content.dll. Write a new subroutine in assembler to compare number of kills to level rank. Use the call funtion commmand for a file look up table (or just write the whole table in the sub routine). Define the look up table for content.dll in initialzation. Easy but long and boring work. Make sure to recalulate the check sum for file before saving after adding in extra code.

Thanks Xerx, but I'm really not much of a coder so I don't know much about calling functions for FL. I was wondering if any of the upcoming mods were going to include these RPG elements. I should of changed the topic of the thread to 'Any new mods making Freelancer an RPG?' or something to catch ppl's attention.
