System Paths, anyone?

The general place to discuss MOD''ing Freelancer!

System Paths, anyone?

For any reason, anyone care to explain briefly the formula (syntax definitions) and usages for files:

"systems_shortest_path.ini"
"shortest_legal_path.ini"
"shortest_illegal_path.ini"

The names pretty much says it all, however I feel discouraged to see hundreds of lines and... argh, anyone care to help?

Search Forum. I recall reading a thread which explained at least one of these files.

Shortest legal and illegal paths use the same format.

As for systems_shortest, it appears to use the same format, I just don't know what it accomplishes. Perhaps in-system movement. I'll look into it, if you are willing to wait a couple of days for an answer.

Thanks, I will check it out.

To be honest, the forums really need some mending, especially to those who post topics with subjects that are often misleading. Or is it just me.

Thanks again for the files. But they haven't answered my curiosities still.

It's ok, I'm spending some more time with pathings.

Close thread please.

Systems_shortest.ini

specifies the shortest route on a system level between systems from a given system...

ie Li01, Rh01, Li01, xxxx, xxxx, xxxx, xxxx, Rh01

the first is origin, second is destination, subsequent is shortest path between those sytems through systems xxxx

ok so its a bit clunky but thats how it is
as far as im aware..

as for intra system pathing, i havent quite sussed that one, but i think it relies on internal routines as it works in systems that i have created.. so long as everything is labeled right it seems to work fine

I've got tutorial for adding new jumpholes from a system to another without changing any path files, 'cause it didn't need any changes on those, I found out.
