you all seem like you would like this game

the battlecruiser series reigns supreme in this category of game. but fiew have heard of it because the developer isn't all sell out like the dev team for freelancer (hence microsoft buy out)

http://www.3000ad.com/home.shtml

look at the descriptions of some of these games. if it'll get you interested i'll tell you this, you can micromanage the crew of your giant ship to your heart's desire, and you can land on planets and walk around on the surface or drive vehicles like jeeps. i think anyone who is obsessed with freelancer would die of pure liquid happy when they saw the description of this game. i know all my friends did. i miss them

i don't think microsoft would release a halfway decent game even if it could. for most of the modding we are doing for freelancer, it looks like they already had the code in the game, but for some reason micrsoft decided to cut those bits out. i'm sure they still made lots of money on it though.

battlecruiser is worth supporting!

what kinda monster of a game is this!? can you pilot fighters? is this mmog? when is it coming out, or if it is out, how come i've never ever heard of it b4? the system requirements are really high, and by some of the pics i saw, it's needed.

well, since this has sprung up:

www.eve-online.com

my opinion:
Excellent graphics, huge community, player driven dynamic economy, awesome ship design, beautiful looking interface, cool background story (though its been there before, not really original BUT nicely redone), moderate system requirements...

I haven't played this game yet (signed up for beta, though) but the screenshots look promising (they always do don't they).

go check it out, make your own opinion...

bc3ad has gotten terrible ratings because of its lack of documentation, bugs and incredibly high learning curve. have tried it, personaly i don't recomend it.

Ugh, EVE. Waste of time. I was in Beta's 5 and 6. Horrible Game.

Agreed mua'dib, my bro was in the beta too. It's basicly earth and beyond with better graphics. To put it in simple terms it's a waste, *i was in earth and beyond beta* plain and simple

muadib, quickshot:
why did it suck? except those screenshots i dont know jack about it, and i know the game industries likes to screw us once in a while... so maybe you can help protect a fellow gamer from getting ripped off.

simple reason it got real old real fast, plus the pvp and everything else related was crap. Plus it shipped really buggy, and it's still based on the damn level up to get better stuff to level up crap witch like i said gets old. It could of been so much better *both of them* and there not. Witch is too bad. Be a judge for yourself, who knows you may enjoy it. But if you like pretty much everything about fl i doubt you will like thoese games.

"i don't think microsoft would release a halfway decent game even if it could".

Freelancer is more than a halfway decent game.
For people that liked it, such as myself, Dungeon Siege rocked and it's modding capacity is extremely high.
While the rights/licenses were purchased, nonetheless, Links 2003 is great if you are into that sort of thing.
Age of <insert choice>. If you like strategy games this whole series is pretty damn good...not to mention, again, pretty mod friendly.

Thanks for jumping on the bandwagon.

both halo and freelancer are more then halfway decent games, but both of them were supposed to be some of the best games of all time before microsoft got ahold of them. now they're merely above average.

THE ENTIRE HALO WAS SUPPOSED TO BE TRAVERSABLE!!!...er, sorry...i kinda lost it there...uuh, enjoy my signature...ya!

o, and battlecruiser 300ad got bad reviews because it was built it dos and was half finished at the time, but the guy basically just keeps adding features into the game and taking bugs out. a couple of years of coding have passed and now the game is about 10000 times better, it has less bugs and it's got multiplayer. it's the best type of multiplayer too, it's peer to peer persistent state multiplayer. so it's free, and you can have all the aspects of a small scale pay to play mmog. i love this game!

here's the link again, just so i feel like this forumn isn't turning into another earth and beyond discussion thread: http://www.3000ad.com/products/index.shtml

also, look at tactical command, the game they plan to make after the pay to play version(or should i say the features they plan to add before the next release). it's got you in fp mode the entire time, even in your ship and the stations. total immersion.

FL is good, but does get old after awhile. Boring really..... but I guess that's what Multiplayer is all about isn't it?

Personally - I think Microsoft's Allegiance was the best Multiplayer space combat game, ever made.
A true 'team game'.

Still - I love the independence of FL.

In fact, I'm working on a Mod of FL to make the ships fly a bit more like they do in Allegiance. Nothing radical mind you. Just adding a dash of Newtonian physics so it doesn't seem like your riding on rails so much.
