Extracting and converting Freelancer ship models.

How exactly does freelancer store the ship models and associated textures?

Are they the .cmp files? if so does anyone know of a viewer that can open then convert it to a 3ds file?

thanks in advance.

Yes, freelancer ships are stored in .cmp

No, I don't know what you can use to view them

Please see my compilation thread for the answer or better yet download my mod and see how I modified the CMP files.
