Used Orion MOD on FLMM... now I can''t get anything to work

I installed FLMM, had a GREAT time with it and the dozen or so MODS I downloaded... went back and forth between a few... now I'm screwed.

The last one that worked was the Orion MOD (for those without, it adds a new system with a base that sells everything in one place). Anyway, I got some goodies, went back to Manhatten, and was all psyched to plug in a different MOD with my saved game that had the goodies.

Then NOTHING worked. The game would not load unless the Orion MOD and ONLY the Orion MOD was plugged in. So I deactived the MOD, reinstalled FLMM, deleted the Auto save and any saved game I had used recently... and the Gods of the Freelancer world still hate me.

Anyway, now with Orion deleted and my game not working... help!

Thanks.

Reinstall Freelancer, but keep your characters and ID-CODE!
Enter saved ID CODE after installation. Good Luck!

Hmm, try deleting/moving all your saved game files. If that still doesn't work, load FLMM and go to Tools\Restore Backups.
One of those things should do the trick; ever since I've added the Tools\Restore Backups option I haven't had to re-install Freelancer at all, even with all the programming and testing of mods that I've done with FLMM

Don't re-install Freelancer until you've tried out the options I've just listed. Tools\Restore Backups was specifically added so that re-installing Freelancer should never be necessary.

Sorry I dropped the thread... I tried what you said but the restore option hasn't worked at all.

I've had to reinstall twice... and that fixed the problem(s)... and I don't mind reinstalling that much - its not the end of the world or anything. But now again I'm stuck with a different MOD either activated... or my game is crashing at startup.

The restore function really doesn't seem to work... am I doing something wrong?

It has to be your saved games causing FL to crash. Delete or move out all the saved games in the My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts\SinglePlayer directory. That should hopefully do the trick

ALL the saved games? But then I'm poor. :-/ God hates me.

You don't have to delete them; just move them to a different folder, and then move them back one by one until FL crashes again; then you've found the culprit saved game

I had the same problem with the Tie-Fighter mod. After i looked at the ini-files of Freelancer, i noticed that the FL Mod Manager has delete everything except of the new Ties. So FL couldn't find the other ships and so it crashed.
Perhaps you should try to edit the ini-files yourself.

Chris, you're saying that FLMM deleted the original ship models included with the game? That's almost impossible, and FLMM also makes backups of all files changed. I can tell you, it wasn't FLMM that deleted your files

Sorry, IGx89.
What i wanted to say is that i thought the tie script has deleted the entries in the shiparch.ini. I couldn't start the game, so i looked at the ini files and in the shiparch.ini there were only the three ties and no other ship listed.
After reinstalling the FL Mod Manager and activating the tie-pack, i looked at the ini and now it is all right.
Perhaps some other program has changed my shiparch.ini.
I didn't want to criticize your work. I think your FLMM is a very good and helpful program.
