Destructable Battleships and Stations

Does anyone know how to do this? Have got a server set up and would like to allow for this where the stations and battleships respawn when you reset the server.

I believe he's talking about regular bases like Newark Station and Battleship Missouri, not encounter-types. I actually did some research to check if what Shiden proposes could be done... eventually quit in frustration over many many unresolvable issues and turned to RE's instead.

Here's how to make the Battleship Missouri (and consequently all l_dreadnought's) destructable in Single Player. Note that I haven't tried this with Multiplayer.

1. Open UNIVERSE/SYSTEMS/LI01/li01.ini
2. Find the Object with a nickname = Li01_03 (that's the Missouri)
3. Find the Archetype of the Object (Battleship Missouri's is "l_dreadnought"
4. Open SOLAR/solararch.ini
5. Find your Solar archetype (a [Solar with a nickname = l_dreadnought)
6. Set destructible = true
7. Give it a reasonable number of hit_pts (or just a measly 5000 if you want to make sure it worked)
8. Go blow it up

Note that the explosion will suck. The battleship will simply disappear and its turrets will give off nice big fireballs. Consider looking at MSN_d_l_dreadnought for a reasonable explosion_arch, CollisionGroups, and fuses.

If you just wanted to make a single object destructable, you'd need to create a new Solar Archetype for it. Just copy the existing one and nickname it slightly differently.

will give that a shot. might also look into creating a new system so at least there is a "safe" place for us to dock. Ideally i'd like to put together something where we can blow up fixed stations with nice explosions along side waves of fighters that they throw at us including battleships and gunboats. ie, being bad asses of the entire game and facing epic battle after epic battle hahahah.

If anyone has anymore information to contribute about this, i would greatly appreciate it, Thanks!

Side tracking for a bit, it would have been cool if one could play the single player campaign in multiplayer co-op. at least one could relive the exerience together like what they did for starlancer.

I've already created several explosions for my mod. Different stations get different effects.

not bad renyn! the explosion "flame" graphics are just a little too meek to be belivable for a starbase blowing up, but the frags are great! do they stay there, like the ends of a transport do after you kill them, or do they blow up seperatly too?

heres an idea, maybe you could mod the base's start somehow so that the base's owners (like "west point=navy" now hate you 100% after you killed their base. that way, if someone wanted to get a sabre the they could take out battleship westfallen, and if they needed to make the police like them again, they could go blow up leon base or rochester . 1 idea to do this would be to find a way to make a base's "rep value" = 100 regular ships, so blowing up trenton would be like killing 100 of universal's transports.

also in the in-game profile, in the kills section, theres a section for "Battleships Destroyed". i dont think its possible at the moment but eventually someone could make a "Bases Destroyed" and even "Planets Destroyed" section there...

Well you haven't seen the entire explosion I clicked it a split second after it exploded so you are seeing just the beginning!

There is a much bigger explosion and the screen fades to yellow for a second.

Yes destroying a base will effect your reputation as you will find out the minute you kill it I've been planning this for my mod for awhile now.

Each base has around 5,000,000 hp and the battleships have 2,500,000 hp.

It will not be an easy task to take one out at all. I have more less made these group encounters. A full 50 torpedos will only do 2.5 mill at max. If the bases don't shoot then down :p hehe.

You'll really like it when I finish my mod. I am just about finished and will probably be releasing it tommorow.

Station DOES come back i tested, its just like the weapons platforms in omega 5 by the corsair/red hessian bases. as for if someone is docked there, then there screwed untill it comes back lol.
