it must be "blitzkrieg"
but i think it´s not that good idea, because of the 2nd gulf-war atm .
it´s also a word of the 2nd world war, and nobody likes thinking of min. 6 million dead ppl killed by gas or killed by german nazi-soldiers!
or do YOU ?
tox
it is blitzkrieg, yes.
why not call it "Führer"? :þ
just kidding, just kidding! *runs from angry mob*

(alright...that was a tad unoriginal.....heehee...for t he honour of Gabriel Knight)
umm....as for names....i guess suggestions could include the Gryphon....the Templar knights were a German order, i think...could be wrong.....some WWII German fighter planes took the name of 'Uhu' ,for owl

Seeing all of the *horrible* attempts at German in this thread (thx toXic for amending this a bit ), I strongly suggest not to use one of those names. None of the Rhineland ship classes have German names, as you will have noticed, just individual Battleships are named after historical or mythical figures related to Germany.
Taking a look at the names of the two existing fighters, I'd suggest to keep that style. 'Banshee' and 'Valkyrie' have some elements in common: both are mythical creatures, both are female and both evoke a fierce, agressive image. 'Banshee' doesn't even have any connection to Germany or German culture.
To follow this like of thought, how about:
- Harpy
- Sphinx
- Amazon
- Siren
- Witch
- Archon
- Deva
- Fury
- Naga
- Sylph

Admiral...
There are more then one "sword" names in the game. See also:
Saber
Dagger
Stilletto
Now if the guy wanted to go with a sword name he could try this (sorry all you germans my spelling is terrible): Katzspalder
I know the spelling is off, but it is a documented type of germanic shortsword used by the landskonect(again spelling terrible.). It was a long thin blade with 2 rondels at each end of the hilt. I'll find the correct spelling later on.

i never heard of these words, sorry.
"landsconekt" sounds like you mean
"Landsknecht", but i dunno if it is so.
and "katzspalder", well, maybe you mean
"Katzenspalter", but this would be very funny.
Divide a cat into two pieces?
it would be interessting for me to now what you mean...
@Stannum :
I am not very patiently, please get ready to choose a name !!!

i stand corrected tarl, but there is still no question that the ship should be named "giant-slaying basterd sword of main- and kill-all"
toxic can you translate that into german for me?
i tried www.freetranslation.com and got this:
Riese Erschlagen bastard von Schwert von haupt- und töten alle.
is that right?

I´ll try it Tolwyn:
"Riesiges Bastard zerschlagendes Schwert von Main und tötet alles"
i´m not sure if it is correct 100%,
especially the ending sounds a bit strange,
but its more correct than your translation given by www.freetranla....
What do you mean with "main" ?
-a city?
please tell me
