Do any mods work in Multi?

Every mod I have tried has crashed me to desktop everytime I try it in multiplayer. I have tried damn near every mod, except for speed mods at the moment. Are all mods designed for Singleplayer or am I missing something?

I follow the instructions on every mod and even tried using the mod installers.

Me and a friend tried to run the same mods on the same server we Hosted, still crashed us both to desktop.

I am assuming they only work in SinglePlayer mode, If I am wrong could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong.
If I am correct could you modders please take a minute to specify weather or not they are SP or MP mods?

Thanks for the help in advance.

This is not the case, I have been working on my mod and i use the server *via lan* on my pc to test it *so it is multiplayer* they reason if you have a mod and are trying to play mutli but not contecting to a server witch uses that mod it will cause problems, like crashs and so forth, thats why people are creating mod mangers, so you can escially turn mods on or off when you need to. Now if the server you trying to connect to has the mod *like maybe your own* then it could be your freelancer install. Since you said you have done many mods some left overs *witch do happen* of a mod that dons't work right in mp maybe causing problems, best fix is re-install *ack no!* ok then putting the orginal ini's back in would be your next best bet. *witch you can get from lancers reactor in ther download area* then try using one mod at a time. Or using a mod manger or something of that case. Some mods will/won't work with mp depends on how they were made really. So trial and error and BACKUPs *the modders mantra* is your best bet at this point. Hope it all works out. Happy Freelancing

ok as stated above we have tried that, server and client side both been updated with a single mod each time, if it failed we restord the original INI found on this web site.

If you have a MP mod that is working could you send it to me, with instructions, maybe its the other mods we have tried. but i have tried exomod, all battleship mods, orion system mods, and many many others, basically every mod you can download we have tried. have tried both mod installers, and tons others. so far only thing the mods do is let me restore the original INI files hehe.

If you have a working mp mod please send it to me so I can see if it will work for us. We are only using internet btw, dont think that will make a difference on mods but never know.

Thanks in advance

You have to think about what is being simulated on the server before deciding to try a mod or not. So far it seems the server only simulates positions and damage (hit or no hit) with any type of authority. After that, as long as it can render what your pc says is happening, then it happens. So you can MODIFY tons of stats, like weapon refire, damage, speed, range, ship speed, shields, armor. You just can't ADD things that the server doesn't know about ie... ANY mod that says "add such and such piece of crap to shiparc.ini". Those mods don't work. They are for people who want to play glorified MS flight simulator with themselves and look at their beautiful model. If you want your mods to work in MP, make sure you have no textures the server doesn't have and make sure you have no classes of goods the server does not have. You can modify ships in shiparc so you can fly them but you can't go creating shiptypes and weapontypes that don't exist. So basically, don't try adding your own personal star system and expect to emerge from safety into the buzz and flurry of Planet Manhatten...
