To All FL players

I want to know why the FL comunity hasn't rallied with their talent to put on the drawing board a full scale mod that combines many of the things that people want added or fixed to the game. If Digital Anvil and Microsoft thing that the modding community can fix up their own tools, why don't we then. I have put together a list of things that I have seen that people want changed in the game, here they are:
-More Systems
-More random missions for more different factions
-more single player storylines
-more ships and outfits
-Different levels of engines that don't just change burn time, but speed too.
-Different levels of cruise engines
-Armor outfits
-Ships that can be customizable iwth spray paint logos.
-Different level shield batteries
-more secrets and hidden items
-Diablo style skill advancing as you advance levels
-Capability to board ships with out destroying them.
-Microsoft supported 24-7 servers with maximum players allowed (Multiplayer is made the interact with other players, that is why the 16 player servers in my opion are boring).
-Objects in 3d space and not just organized on a 2d plane.
-Ability to join and start factions.
-Build bases and inhabit new planets perhaps through missions.
-Ability to hire escorts
-Voice over Net
-All over more freedom
-Levels higher than 38 that are harder to get to.
-More derilect ships
-New Governments.
-Police that respond faster after the player refuses to jettison cargo
-More ships with better models, many existing ones look like insects
-Ability to store multiple ships at different locations and planets for storage fee and the player has to return the the location to retreive it.
-Can't kill human players that are below 66% of your level
-Systems that can adapt to players decisions
-Missles that are cheaper
-Can raid stations/planets after destroying their defense fleet.
-Settling/Exploring new systems.
-GUI editor for creating and editing most game features.
-Better security on servers against cheating.
-Customizable multiplayer characters - not just Trent.
-Can name your ship.
-Fighter bays for large frighters and large battleships.
-More graphic enhancement settings
-More multiplayer game filters
-Trade lanes go faster
-Gunboats and cruisers and battleships patrol sysems.
-Specialized mining frighters than can mine faster.

I don't know if all of these could be included in a patch or a mod, but if you like some of these ideas or have additional ones please reply. I think that we should start a petition to Digital Anvil and Microsoft to get what we want to make Freelancer a much better game that will last longer.

Many of these are to be adressed in the upcoming FLSDK team mod.

It might be a while before its done, but it is being worked on (Im working on a number of new models to add myself, atm)

I think the reason people haven't "rallied" is that you would need some kind of story to tie this together. And it's difficult to imagine a new story when the script guys haven't deciphered the cutscene format. But it's less that a month since the game's been out, so a lot of people still have to buy the game and finish SP once before they get modding.

I didn't know you were working on new models Kru. Are you making any capital class ones? I tried to start my own but i'm terrible at making models, especially ones with the textures. If you've got any new ship models that you'd like to put in but don't have the code yet, i'd gladly put it in if you email it to me.

Interesting all those features and gameplay listed there... IMHO I think that FL is not the product your looking for... But the upcoming X2 IS... FL is a wanabe X2 and still very far from the first XBTF back in 1999... FL is very nice visualy there is no question about it! The storyline also but your forced into it right from the start and the story rush at you all the time up to the end. You end up fast in major wartime and the all galaxie seems unaware of it!... no economic impact no where... no impact what so ever other that your rep that toggles between red and green extreams... And after the story... the only story... your rep sort of reset with the factions like at the start... Then, not much to do in the game after the story... You have a good ship, good gadgets and there is no point of doing the delivery boy stuff after that... It gets very boring very fast.... Bad idea of using the credits as a triger...

The all design of this game missed the point of what non-linear means... And the most funny is that it's the customer, who paid for an unfinished product, that will put free time trying to fix, develop and finish it... Very interesting business plan dont you think?... Your not paying the coders for the development but it's the reverse... they're paying to fix it!....

Anyway, I knew when I bought it that it would not be more than a teaser to help me wait for the real thing... X2! And FL... well... the next time I see my 8 year old nefew, I will have a nice gift for him... Thinking of it, considering the general gameplay, difficulty/strategy level etc etc.... It should have been rate: up to 10 years old.....

PS: pour ceux qui pointeront mon anglais... je vous invites à le faire en français... on vera bien de quoi vous aurez l'air...

Yes X2 is the follow up of beyond... and Xtension... And no, X2 is not multiplayer. It will be a single only and the multiplayer will be a completly seperate product that will follow, base on X2 with features that are pertinent for multiplayer like custum designs of your ship and stations/product line...

There are so many features in X2 that it's better to go to egosoft.com for more... I'm waiting for it for near 2 years now if not more... And egosoft are very silent about it... They don't brag about it so it's very difficult to know all the details... The 3D engine was completely redone and optimize for Geforce 3 and up cards.... And the universe IS dynamic... if you shoot a convoy from a faction trading a specific good, than the price of that good will change according to the lost shipment and prices goes up... Then if you happen to own a factory that produce that same product... well... what a lucky guy you are .... profits by crashing competitors.... ... even in a trader role you can be... let's say... ferengy style.... or you can go for a bounty hunter... built your own army while you fly your capital ship loadup with fighters and a couple of destroyers to escort you.... and be your selfmade Emperor trying to dominate the universe by provoquing wars between worlds.... Over 100 systems, over 70 flyables ships with upgrades of all flavors...and so on....

They have been in development for many years like Anvil and postponed the release a couple of times... Now they're in final stage and a playable demo will be available near before release... For those with monster GPU's... Think about animated organic ship hull texture!... Does it give you a idea of what it will look like?.... Anyway... I'm just in stanby for it... I already have XBTF and Xtension, even old they are still enjoyable...

Ya, you are right, I think that is the game that I have been looking for. I hope the multiplayer version won't have a monthly fee.
