Ideas for modders...

Hi all.

I have to admit, I don't know anything about modding this game, but I came up with an idea that some capable modder could do...

Could it be possible to add some kind of material usage to ships? Like H-fuel, oxygen, water and so on? This would add some depth for example to trading in long routes since you should make stops at stations for refueling, taking more oxygen etc. Or if there isn't any bases or planets on route that sell them you'd have to take supplies with you.
As I see that many people are very interested of flying big capital ships, this could add some challenge to that too as the huge ship would consume lots of fuel and other supplies.

Ofcourse there is still big holes in this idea like for a starting players the h-fuel is far too expensive etc. but i think that if we put our minds to it, these problems can be solved.

What do you think about this idea?
Is it even possible to do?

maybe a certain amount of H-fuel would be needed for jumpgates and another cheaper resource for regular thrust? That would make in-system traderoutes less of an investment and longer ones more of an investment.

Something like that would solve the problem for starting players...

I just can imagine the stategic value of controlling systems that sell H-fuel or some other used resource. That might give some purpose to team play as you could monopolize H-fuel selling on some important traderoutes. I already can hear cries for help from traders and other players stucked in middle of nowhere, when they run out of fuel... with cargohold full of diamonds, cardamine or such valuable items... gives you ideas, don't it! Easy prey for pirating or just ripp off their money selling them overpriced fuel or maybe if you feel generous bring them fuel and escort them to their destination (for a fee ofcourse). I think if this could be done in a proper way it could improve the MP game experience very much.

I don't know how the game engine works, but it came to my mind that maybe this supply consumtion could be achieved with help of "perishable" and "highly perishable" function in some of the cargo... what do you think?

More ideas regarding this and other supply consumption are very welcome!

And the most important thing still remains...does anyone know if this mod could be possible?

I think the best way to solve this is creating a new hardpoint (like nanobots and shield batteries) with a certain number of units for each ship. Because I think isn't real that the space ships needs fuel to work.
I mean, the new hardpoint can be something like Nuclear Particles batteries or something like that and making it available at every location, so you don't need to modify commodities system.
But this makes necessary to modify the HUD of the ship to add some Navigation Power bar....... Anyway, I don't know

Wait Wait, I've got it!

You use Plutonium... and when your ship reaches 88 kps you're thrown through the jumpgate into the next system.
